Project manager Melanie Sherratt said she is finalising the last details and touches and is confident the awards will be a success.
The 24 year-old completed her bachelor’s degree in marketing and event management in November and said she was glad to put her training to use.
‘‘It has been a really great experience and while I have encountered some obstacles I am not stressed because I believe tonight’s event is up to the standard that the community and businesses of Deniliquin expect.
‘‘It will be great to see it come together and I am excited to greet our guests in the room we set up last night which will feature our iconic chamber bunnies.’’
Miss Sherratt said the experience has been eye opening as she connected with and discovered business leaders, owners and employees in the local area.
‘‘I have met so many people who are dedicated to improving and developing their skills and services. Many are doing it tough at the moment with the drought — which has affected most aspects of the community — but are determined to keep going. It is an incredible fellowship.
‘‘I have also noticed many businesses and individuals were nominated for the first time which allows us to recognise more people for what they do through the awards,’’ Miss Sherratt said.
‘‘With 66 deserving finalists, it will be hard to only present just 14 awards. I would like to congratulate everyone on their amazing efforts, whether or not they were nominated, for continuously improving business and industry in Deniliquin.’’
Ticket sales ended on Monday. The soiree starts at 6pm and dinner starts at 7pm.
