The evening focused on two key topics affecting women’s wellbeing - osteoporosis and menopause - with expert presentations that sparked meaningful conversations and empowered attendees with practical advice.
The event also covered diet and nutrition, pelvic floor exercises, and the importance of self-nurturing.
Attendees praised the quality of the presentations and the opportunity to connect with others in a supportive environment.
The event hosted by the Deniliquin Local Health Advisory Committee in partnership with Murrumbidgee Local Health District, and Deni LHAC acting chair Louise Mace said it was a resounding success for community health engagement.
“Deni LHAC is very pleased with attendance and the outcomes of the night, as we continue to strive to provide health information sessions that empower people to take actions to improve their own health outcomes,” she said.
Deni LHAC member Lourene Liebenberg said the event was inspired by the Jean Hailes Foundation’s Women’s Health Week theme – ‘Say Yes To You’.
“This really hit a chord with the women in our community,” Mrs Liebenberg said.
“It was a great event to organise, the speakers were amazing and support from the community fantastic.”
Speakers over the two hour information session included MLHD musculoskeletal services coordinator George Lam, Andrea Arragon from MLHD’s complex menopause service (MLHD), Deniliquin Community Health dietician Jemma Braybon, Avtiv8 exercise physiologist Barb Anderson and Mrs Mace in her capacity as owner of Nurture with Louise.
Mrs Liebenberg said each presentation was well received.
“We had some very positive feedback and comments, with attendees saying they enjoyed the event, the quality of presentations and the opportunity to connect with each other while learning more.”
