Tocumwal was alive for the Easter long weekend!

The town was buzzing and business was booming, which was great to see.
It was a hot day for the Tocumwal Bloods footballers and netballers who competed in the scorching sun against Berrigan in their season opener games on Good Friday.
There was mixed results with all netball sides coming away with wins, and all football sides unfortunately losing to strong Berrigan sides.
The Tocumwal Races were a roaring success with racegoers braving the heat for an enjoyable day.
The stage was abundant with entrants into Fashions on the Field with some categories flowing off the stage!
The winners of the major raffle were drawn after the running of the cup.
First prize went to ticket 1054, Mike Dale from Somers in Victoria. Second went to Tim Alexander from Hawthorn East and third went to a racegoer who wishes to remain anonymous.
The committee thank everyone who purchased tickets.
Proceeds from the raffle will go towards installing a badly needed new watering system for the Racecourse.
Then came the Foreshore Market on Sunday with the riverbank heaving with marketgoers.
Internet and card payments may have been slow, but it didn’t stop the crowds of people enjoying the day.
I hope everyone had a safe and happy Easter. It has been great to see the town alive for the weekend.

Services over Easter at St Peters Catholic Church saw an increase in numbers attending, especially on Good Friday, and Easter Saturday.
Many who attended were visitors to our town and very happy to be able to join the local congregation in acknowledging the Passion of Christ and His Resurrection.

If running or even walking 4km isn’t for you and you would like to be involved in the Tocumwal Mother’s Day Classic, the organisers would love to hear from you to fill one of the volunteer roles.
The volunteers spend the event sitting in a camp chair with a blanket and hot coffee at one of the checkpoints, directing and cheering on the participants as they pass by.
That sounds appealing to me. And your time will contribute towards the funds raised for breast cancer research.
There are also positions in the finish line cheer squad to hand out water and medals, and a photographer role too.
If you are able to assist, please get in touch with Jenny Philpot by calling 0439 451 805 through the Tocumwal Mothers Day Classic Facebook page, or sign up at https://mdc.rosterfy.com.au/register
Registrations for the Mother’s Day Classic are still open via www.mothersdayclassic.com.au.
