Blooming great Daffodil Day event

The floral arrangements at Deniliquin Florist spilled out onto the footpath on Thursday - but it was only one bloom in particular.

Business owner Angie Wren’s annual tradition of hosting a Daffodil Day fundraiser saw people gather to purchase bunches of fresh daffodils, cupcakes iced in the fundraiser’s signature yellow and a sausage sizzle.

Tables and chairs were provided for those who wanted to stop and chat for a while, and sample the delicious items.

Raffle tickets were also on sale for a grand prize draw of items from local businesses around Deniliquin, the winner was Kathy Cooper.

All proceeds were donated to the Cancer Council Australia to support cancer research and support programs. The final tally had not been confirmed at the time of going to print yesterday.
