Bodey breaks the drought in Rovers' ‘Casserole-Off’

There was no shortage of spice or spirit at the Deniliquin Rovers Football & Netball Club’s clubrooms on Thursday night, as players and supporters gathered for the club’s much-loved annual Senior Footballers Casserole-Off.

After four long years of near-misses, Adam Bodey finally took out first place with his crowd-pleasing beef massaman curry - a dish that left the judges raving.

The culinary showdown followed senior footy training, with hungry teammates and supporters lining up to sample the action.

Former champ Ben McCalman had to settle for second with his chicken mango curry, while last year’s winner Rowan Frazer rounded out the podium with a hearty plate of lamb shanks.

Official judges John Allitt, Rachel Braybon, and Paul O’Donnell had the tough task of choosing a winner in what’s become one of the club’s most anticipated social events of the year.

The club is now looking forward to the A and B Grade netball cook-off this week, where the theme is The Great Food Adventure.
