The latest local group to sponsor the charity team is the Deniliquin RSL Summer Carpet Bowls group.
Member June Campbell said a donation of $610 was made, covered by subs paid by players.
Mrs Campbell said this ensures they will have their contribution recognised with a sticker on the rally car.
“Peata and her teammate made a great effort the last time they took part in the rally, so we wanted to support it.
“The rally also raises money for the Cancer Council, which is another reason we wanted to help.”
Mrs Smith took part in the winter rally last year with family friend Tanya Spring, under the team name ‘On Angels Wings’. They raised more than $26,000.
This year Mrs Smith is teaming up with Mrs McDaid, as team ‘Deni Angels of Chaos’.
“This incredible event will see us drive a car worth $1500 or less from Mildura to Townsville in June 2026, alongside 500 other adventurous participants,” Mrs Smith said.
“This journey will take us to some of the most remote places in Australia, including Hawker, Mungerannie, Bedourie, McKinlay, Karumba, Chillage and finally Townsville
“The Sh*tbox Rally is not a race, but a challenge to accomplish the unthinkable: tackling thousands of kilometres through remote outback roads and rugged Australian terrain, all in the name of a very important cause.”
This rally aims to raise $2 million for the Cancer Council, to support groundbreaking cancer research across the country.
Mrs Smith and Mrs McDaid have set a personal goal to raise $30,000.
“Anyone can get involved and support our team, either by sponsorship, donations or in-kind donations such as products, services, raffle prizes or fundraising event support - we welcome any contributions that can help us reach our goal,” Mrs Smith said.
“Your support means the world to us - and will help make a real difference in the lives of those families, friends and loved ones affected by cancer.”
