Why? Because human beings had broken their relationship with God by choosing to go their own way, instead of following God’s ways.
We were unable to mend this relationship and God knew it, so he stepped into his own creation to make a way for all to be restored to how it was meant to be from the beginning.
You see, in the beginning God said that the whole creation was ‘very good’.
It was not until men decided to believe lies and to not trust God that everything turned bad.
John 3:16 says that “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.
Jesus was sent by the Father because of the Fathers love, to restore our relationship to the Father, by covering every time we choose our own way instead of God’s way - what the bible calls “sin”.
He carried our sins in his own human body, to death on the cross so that we could be free to return to the Father.
Only Jesus, being fully human and fully God, could bear this burden.
When Jesus then rose from the grave, he conquered death once and for all by enabling any human being who so chooses to have their relationship with God restored by believing in Jesus’ finished work on the cross.
As the word says, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”.
Christianity is all about the person of Jesus Christ. Read the gospel of John if you don’t yet know who he really is.
