The Lions Club of Deniliquin was recently saddened at the passing of one of our longest serving members, Lion Patrick Hogan.
Lion Pat was inducted into Lions on November 11, 1974.
He served in many capacities in the Deniliquin Lions Club during his almost 50 years with the club.
This included terms as president, vice president, board director, treasurer and membership chairman.
Some of these roles were carried out many times over that 50 years.
He served as Lions Bingo treasurer almost from its inception approximately 30 years ago, and will be fondly remembered in our community as the Christmas cake and Lions calendar chairman.
Pat was honoured with both Life Membership of the Deniliquin Lions Club and the prestigious Melvin Jones Award, the highest award given by Lions International, named after the founder of Lions.
Pat was predeceased by his wife, Loris, who also served Lions as she worked alongside Pat until her passing.
Pat relocated from Deniliquin to Victoria several years ago to be nearer to his family.
Lion Pat Hogan’s service to Lions International, Deniliquin Lions Club and the Deniliquin community was exceptional over half his lifetime, and his contribution will be remembered for many years to come.
