Melos Group executive principal Phillip Nash said the west Deniliquin school is so far only accredited to teach Year 7 and 8.
Accreditation for other years will be applied for as those students transition through their education.
Mr Nash said applications to offer other secondary school year levels would be made based on demand.
Melos Group is also considering bringing forward plans to establish an early learning centre on the school site, which could see the service available by next year.
It could see infant year levels included at the school earlier than anticipated, to ease their transition to the school if there is enough demand.
“One parent whose child won’t be in Year 7 until 2027 has already contacted us, and is very excited,” Mr Nash said while visiting Deniliquin this week.
“While we’ve only been allowed to open enrolments this week, we have had about 20 families on a list after showing interest during the application stages.
“We’re hoping to get about 20 students to start with. If we get more, that’s fine, and if we get a little less we’ll still be able to operate.”
Staff recruitment is also progressing, with a mix of local and interstate applications for positions.
“We have two potential principal applications, we almost have two teachers locked in and recruiting for a third.
“We’ll also require teaching assistants, a part-time administration staff member and a cleaner.
“We already have a caretaker in place, who is living on the school grounds until the school is set up.”
Meanwhile, Mr Nash said work is continuing to revive school buildings, which have been mostly disused since the Deniliquin Christian School closed at the end of the 2022 school year.
Electrical work is currently taking place, and a group of about 12 Mobile Mission Maintenance Australia volunteers will arrive soon to help with painting and carpet installation.
