Current Deniliquin Pastoral & Agricultural Society president Trudy Fanning said the 145th instalment of the show will be hosted in 2026.
She said this is an ideal time for newcomers to get involved and be part of a long-running tradition.
A new executive will be elected at the P&A Society’s AGM on Sunday, July 27, from 10.30am at the Coach House Hotel.
Mrs Fanning said all committee roles will be open for nominations, and also encouraged anyone interested in getting involved in the show in other ways to come along.
“The show society provides great opportunity,” she said.
“The beauty of it is all the different aspects you can specialise in”.
“There’s the pavilion, the entertainment side of it, and also there’s the outside events like the horse events and the Livestock stewarding.
“You don’t have to be involved in everything; you can follow your particular interest. It is very versatile.”
Mrs Fanning said there is a range of benefits as to why people should get involved, the least of which is supporting the continuance of a vital community event.
“It's a great network - the Ag Shows network.
“We can network among ourselves in the community, but you’ve also got the Victorian Agricultural Shows and AgShows NSW which are very rewarding to be involved with.
“There is also a regional group - the Group Nine network, which we are a part of.
“There are 21 show committees in Group Nine - like Finley, Berrigan, West Wyalong, Hillston, Ardlethan, Hay, Wakool and Barham Koondrook - and we meet quarterly.
“It is a great network, and you can build such a strong connection in what you’re interested in.
“Joining the committee is also great for leadership and self development.
“There are many opportunities, even in marketing and sponsorship; it all makes a big difference.”
Mrs Fanning said the Deni Show plays a key role in entertaining the region and its visitors, but also helps to promote agriculture and educate on its role in country communities.
“It is the only agriculturally based event in Deniliquin, on such a broad scale and we need to keep Agriculture strong. The Deni Show plays an important role in that.
While steeped in tradition, the Deni Show also strives to offer new and exciting activities and displays for show goers each year.
Mrs Fanning said that’s where “fresh voices” are of benefit to the committee.
“We promote a positive and supportive culture on the show society. We support each other in the committee, and also outside the show personally.
“There’s always been a great energy and variety in our committee. We are excited to get some fresh voices and new ideas to keep the proud heritage of the show while still keep it moving into the future. New faces with new ideas are very important in achieving that.
“Any new members willing to give a committee role a try will be supported and mentored.”
A casual lunch will be had after the meeting at the Coach House, with the cost of lunch payable by individual.
If people are interested in being a part of the Deni Show committee, they can get involved by attending the meeting this Sunday at 10.30am.
