There were some good lines of heavy trade lambs available, and a couple of extra buyers in attendance.
The sale did show a stronger price trend across all categories of lambs and sheep, matching the improved rates of more recent markets.
Heavy lambs sold to $238 and bidding did consistently track from $200 to $230/head over the lead pens of crossbred lambs estimated from 23kg to 28kg carcase weight.
Competition for Merino lambs, which were mostly in the lighter weight categories, was also keen at $160 to $188/head for the better lines. Agents quoted most lambs between 820c and 900c/kg cwt.
It was a limited mutton run, but there were still some good heavy ewes available.
Sheep were dearer for a quote of 700c to 800c/kg cwt, which lifted the better lines of Merino ewes with good fat cover from $180 to $231/head.
