After almost 12 months of planning, the Vinnies Reconnect Youth Hub will be opened in Wellington St on Thursday.
It’s an extension of the services Vinnies Reconnect has been providing to the Deniliquin community over the past 20 years, for young people aged 12-18 and their families.
The Reconnect Program supports young people to re-engage or remain engaged with education, access employment and training, connection to family, family mediation, community participation, advocacy, group work and practical support.
Vinnies works collaboratively with other services and outreach to four LGA's which include Hay Shire, Edward River Council, Berrigan Shire and Murray River Council.
The grand opening of the youth hub will be held from 3pm to 5pm Thursday, behind Inala House, 74-76 Wellington St (entry via Mann St).
Along with other service providers, Vinnies will be hosting a Youth Expo.
This is a free event with food, music and activities.
“We invite all members of the community to come down to Vinnies Inala House to take a look at what the Youth Hub has to offer,” the Reconnect Program team said.
The Youth Hub will be open every Monday and Thursday from 3pm to 4.30pm during the NSW school term for young people aged 12-17 years to drop in and join in an activity if they choose, just chill out or talk to someone if they need support.
The Youth Hub will have resources for other support services and offer referral pathways.
During school holidays, The Youth Hub will run activities such as pool competitions, table tennis competitions, movie and popcorn days, arts and crafts, cooking and gaming competitions.
Group work programs facilitated by Reconnect Staff and other external service providers will also be offered.
The Youth Hub will be somewhere for young people to "find your space, find your fun, find your support".
The referral process is as easy as calling 5881 7411, or simply drop by the Inala House office or Youth Hub.
