DHS charity auction raises record-breaking $2160

The Deniliquin High School held its Year 12 charity auction on Tuesday, where costumed senior students were ‘sold’ to the highest bidder to perform various duties on their behalf.

The auction started off strong after a brief parade to see what was on offer, much like cattle at the sale yards.

The auction kicked off with the first two groups both going for $200.

After a brief lull in the bidding, the Pitbulls (dressed up like musician Pitbull, complete with bald caps) went for a whopping $500, a number of teachers started grouping up to try and get in on the action.

The Cat in the Hat group sold for $155 and then Lily Donald, dressed as Maleficent, caused a bidding frenzy.

A syndicate of teachers secured the bid with a whopping price of $510, which is believed to be a school record.

Ultimately, the day raised a total sum of $2160 which will be donated to the NSW Cancer Council.
