At least 20 dogs and their owners and companions took part in Sunday’s Walk For Mate charity dog walk at Memorial Park, through the Deniliquin Regional Park and to Willoughby’s Beach.
Organised by the Deniliquin Vet Clinic, the walk was a Breast Cancer Foundation fundraiser, in honour of their colleague Pat Robinson and other locals battling the disease.
Dogs of all sizes and their owners donned touches of pink for the walk, and made their way through the forest for a leisurely stroll.
With donations still open until Thursday, a final tally and more photos will appear in Friday’s edition.
You can donate at the Deniliquin Vet Clinic.
Perfect time for a nap
While the entire town was gearing up for a night of fun, food and festive carols on Friday, the Waring Gardens’ long-term residents seemed to have other plans.
A member of the Pastoral Times staff was able to snap this picture of a few feathered residents getting in a moment of shut eye before their home was taken over by local families.
We hope the evening was as enjoyable for them as it was for the rest of the town, although we’re not sure they will have enjoyed the fireworks quite as much as the town did.
‘Tis the giving season
While you finish off your Christmas shopping, just a friendly reminder that the town giving trees are still accepting donations.
The Deniliquin Hospital giving tree will accept unwrapped toy for children - up to teenagers - until Thursday.
The LHAC Tree of Giving initiative is intended to help disadvantaged local families have a better Christmas.
Unwrapped toys and gifts left under the tree will be distributed to local families through Homes Out West.
Counting down the days
As the countdown to Christmas continues, we hope you're enjoying the festive season and all the joys that come with it.
With just six days left until the big day, it's a great time to reflect on the year that has passed and look forward to the new one ahead.
For the little ones, the excitement is building as they eagerly await the arrival of Santa Claus in just five days' time.
Across the state school's out for summer and kids are making the most of their holidays, creating new memories and having fun in the sun.
Please note, the Pastoral Times will not be printing a Tuesday, December 26 edition this year.
All other editions will be printed as normal.
Our office will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and re-open on Wednesday, December 27.
