While funds are still being collated, Deniliquin Can Assist president Kellie Crossley said the sale of raffle tickets, a calcutta-type auction for the ferret races and sponsorship had raised about $10,000.
And the results of a special fundraiser coordinated by country music legend Lee Kernaghan and his team is yet to be added to the total.
Losing his own mother to cancer, Kernaghan took time out to meet the team behind Deniliquin Can Assist on the Friday of the Muster.
Later that night, he pledged to donate all proceeds from his virtual meet and greets over the Muster weekend to the Deni branch too.
With technical difficulties forcing those virtual catch-ups to be postponed, the results are not yet known.
Mrs Crossley said it was a hugely successful outcome for the local group, which provides financial assistance to locals undergoing cancer treatment.
Funds raised by the group often helps with travel and accommodation expenses, and other associated financial pressures.
“It was hot, but it was fun and we could not have done it without our volunteers,” Mrs Crossley said.
“I think it was a bit of an eye opener for Martin (from Whitey’s Ferret Racing) too, as it was his first muster.
“We had pig racing at previous musters, but this was the first time we had ferret racing.
“We had a few winners donating their prizes straight back to us, which was appreciated.”
