Footy fun with a local charity twist

Mathoura Public School students and staff recently celebrated the last day of term three with a footy day.

Staff and students proudly wore their favourite footy team colours and brought gold coin donations to support a local resident currently battling cancer.

The day kicked off with a parade of students and staff representing their teams, followed by a tally to discover the school’s most popular team.

Richmond took out the top spot this year, with Essendon coming in second.

Throughout the day, students rotated through a variety of footy activities, including aiming for the handball target, kicking the footy into the bin, kicking goals, and kick-to-kick.

The event wrapped up with an AFL trivia quiz and a hot dog lunch kindly provided by the P&C.

The school was also generously gifted 10 new footballs from the Mathoura Football Netball Club.
