A ‘tradie afternoon session’ will be held on May 16 in a collaborative effort by the Campaspe Shire Recovery Hub, Rochester Mitre 10 and Hope Assistance Local Tradies.
The session, in the beer garden at the Shamrock Hotel beer garden, is on Thursday from 4.30pm to 6pm and will promote mental health for tradies.
HALT is a registered charity focusing on health promotion and suicide prevention aimed at trade and blue-collar workers.
HALT staff deliver talks to community groups, construction sites, sporting clubs, men’s sheds and other spaces to break down stigma and promote mental wellbeing.
Their talks debunk suicide myths, highlight risk factors, and offer guidance on how to be supportive and find help.
HALT co-founder Jeremy Forbes will deliver the session and is part of the Campaspe Shire Council’s flood recovery events program, funded by the Victorian Government.
It is a free event at the Shamrock, 1 Gillies St, Rochester, with finger food and drinks provided. Attendees are asked to register through the council website. Registration closes Tuesday, May 13.
