The service club this week pledged $10,000 to the Deniliquin High School and the Deniliquin High School Parents & Citizens Association (P&C).
Lions treasurer Neil Buckley said funding is specifically intended to support the re-establishment of the school library, in whatever form that would take.
Mr Buckley said the community organisation had raised the money over several years.
Club members were already in discussions about a deserving local cause when the fire occured two weeks ago.
Deniliquin High School principal Glen Warren said the donation “will make a huge difference” to the school.
“It has set a standard, and that will definitely make an impact.
“We thank the Lions for their generosity.”
The money has been transferred to the Deniliquin High School P&C who will determine how to best allocate the funds.
P&C president Vince Kelly said the financial support from the community was much appreciated.
“It is great to see this bit of leadership, with the Lions throwing their support behind the school,” he said.
P&C treasurer Shannon Bulmer agreed, and said the donation is evidence of the important role the school plays in community life.
“One good thing that has happened is that people have come together, and the community has rallied.”
Totals raised from last week’s We Stand with Deni High Day events are still being collated, and more schools and organisations have joined in on the action this week.
It encouraged schools and businesses to dress in the school colours - red, white and black - in a show of solidarity.
Mr Kelly said it was amazing to see so many people get on board.
