Ally was inspired to undertake this initiative when two regular customers at her mother Sharyn Mckenzie’s salon were diagnosed with breast cancer.
“She came up with it herself, came to me and asked if she could go through with it,” Sharyn said.
“I’m extremely proud of her.”
Ally’s hair is currently roughly 94cm long, and takes her an hour to wash and straighten.
She intends to cut it to shoulder length, which would see almost all of it donated to the Peter Mack Foundation.
“They require a minimum of 30cm of hair for a wig, and we’ve got 67cm, so they’ll be able to make two,” Sharyn said.

When asked if she was nervous about getting her hair cut, Ally admitted “a little bit”.
“But I’m really happy with how it’s gone.”
Ally has crushed her original goal of $850.
She is currently at $1850, and on her way to her new goal of $2500.
But that’s just the online donations, with raffle ticket sales still to be calculated.
Everyone is invited to come along and witness the cut, and to donate to the cause.
A barbecue will be held at the front of SRM Northside Hair and Beauty, 346 Victoria St, Deniliquin. The raffle will also be drawn on the day.
