It has been good to hear that district cricket’s great team, the Goats, are up and running for the new Murray Goulburn Cricket season.

The Goats – which stands for the greatest of all time - have been formidable in the past and could well return to glory.

They compete in the Bill Williams Goulburn B-Grade Shield.

Should they need to boost their numbers at any time, they could always call on the youngsters currently learning the ropes with guidance from Mathoura’s two Anthonys (Hadley and Hogg) who enjoyed a game last weekend.

Christmas is coming and this year locals will be able to brighten up their homes, thanks to workshops being held from early next month through to December.

Beautiful Wreaths Workshops will be held from early November through December.

They will be heaps of fun as well as beautifying homes in the lead up to Christmas.

Congratulations are in order for local athlete, and former Mathoura Public School student, CJ, who last week secured gold in the All Schools Championships in Sydney for a second time.

Competing in the Shotput event he produced a personal best to claim the prize.

Mathoura Tennis is underway so grab your racquets and join in the fun.

Play gets underway each Wednesday from 6.30pm and includes a fast four hit.
