Applications for the grant — which are between $1000 and $5000 — open today.
Projects must align with the Edward River Council Community Strategic Plan, Edward River 2030, and be ‘‘achievable, innovative and add value to the community’’.
Mayor Norm Brennan said the program empowers local groups to contribute to the wellbeing of the community by implementing new ideas, projects, activities and events.
‘‘Council is always keen to get behind projects that support youth development, protect our environment and add to the vibrancy of the community. Sporting and recreational activities, arts and culture events and other community-based projects with the capacity to grow should also apply,’’ he said.
‘‘If you have a community project or event that is inclusive, encourages wide participation, creates a sense of cultural pride or stimulates economic growth, be sure to submit an application.
‘‘I encourage community groups to plan their grant application early, read the application guide, and speak with council’s community and economic development team about your application to ensure it meets the guidelines to give it every chance of success.’’
Application forms are available at edwardriver.nsw.gov.au, or email council@edwardriver.nsw.gov.au to receive a form.
Applications close Friday, August 23 at 5pm.
