Jade recently completed an exchange program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, while continuing to work on her Masters in Management degree she’s working toward with the University of Sydney.
The opportunity came through a global partnership program, allowing her to immerse herself in international business studies while exploring the cultural and economic heart of China.
“I travelled to 15 different provinces, and it really was amazing,” Jade said.
“A lot of people have a perception of China. I know I did, but it’s not what I expected.”
Jade’s journey into business and fashion began years earlier.
After earning an Associate Degree in Fashion and Textiles Merchandising and a Bachelor of Business with a major in Contemporary Marketing, she joined her father at Deni’s Cafe Bakery 285 as manager in 2020.
When the business was later sold, she pivoted toward postgraduate study, enrolling to do her Masters in Management at USYD.
Her time in Beijing was both academically enriching and personally transformative. Despite language barriers, Jade found her footing.
“I read the language better than I speak, so I was able to get by that way,” she said with a laugh.
Now back in Australia, Jade is preparing to complete her Masters.
She’s also on track to complete a Master of International Business next year through the CEMS Global Alliance in Management Education. To do so, she will need to complete an internship.
Jade’s got her eye on starting her own fashion brand, and she’s mixing her creative flair with some serious global business know-how.
“I’m doing everything I can to prep for this goal,” she said.
