Teeing off on the fifth - a short par three known for tough head winds - Jen managed an elusive hole-in-one.
We’re told that it was in fact Jen’s first ever hole-in-one.
Congratulations Jen.
The Deniliquin Golf Club reports there were 120 golfers on each day of the classic, played Saturday and Sunday.
Results will be published in the Off The Tee column in this Friday’s edition.
Bazaar birthday
Sometimes you don’t need a big fancy party to celebrate your birthday.
Sometimes all you need are your close friends and family, and a community event.
That’s why family and friends took birthday girl Loretta Lewis along to the Do It In Deni Street Bazaar on Saturday morning.
Loretta was among those snapped at the event, and those with her were quick to tell our photographer that it was in fact her birthday.
When asked which number birthday it was, Loretta would only admit “70 plus”.
The ladies had plenty to keep them busy while celebrating the morning, and the weather was also very kind.
The luck of the Irish
How much green will you be wearing this Friday in honour of St Patrick’s Day ?
The event started as a religious holiday to celebrate the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.
Over time it has united people in a celebration of the culture in the Republic of Ireland and to remember St Patrick’s life and achievements.
Green is the symbolic colour of the day for a number of interesting reasons.
The Shamrock - known more commonly as the four leaf clover, and green in colour - is a national symbol for the Republic of Ireland.
Leprechauns are also one of the reasons you are supposed to wear green on St Patrick’s day, given they are most often depicted wearing a green suit.
Legend also has it that if you wear green you’re invisible to the Leprechauns, which like to pinch anyone they can see.
Some people also think sporting green brings good luck and others wear it to honour the Irish ancestry.
Footy’s back
Okay footy fans it’s time to get out all your memorabilia, hats, scarves, badges, flags and anything that you perceive that gives you that superstitious edge.
The AFL footy action is back and starts this Thursday night with a banger of a game between Richmond and Carlton.
Footy lovers have been preparing for the season already, getting out their crystal balls and trying to predict the top eight, bottom eight and everything in between.
Even suggesting who may win the Brownlow, Coleman Medal and the Rising Star is a feat in itself with 18 teams competing and over 600 listed players.
No doubt fans will be glued to the TV or watching games live for the thrill of the speckie’s, tackles, goals and crash and bang that the game provides.
Game on people.
