The quality of the young lambs was described as outstanding, with the lead pens off irrigation meeting export weights, followed by a very good run of heavy and medium trades.
The total yarding of 8031 head resulted in total sales of $1,878,752, for an average price of $233.94.
This is up from 6403 head last fortnight, making $1,399,333 for an average price of $218.68
Supermarket competition joined the buying ranks for young lambs on Tuesday, and prices were firm to dearer than recent sales at 1100c to just over 1200c/kg carcase weight (cwt).
New price heights were reached for Deniliquin with a top of $390/head for a pen of 46 new season lambs, and several lines sold above $300/head.
The sheep yarding was limited with a lot of smaller clean-up lots, and the mutton run was quoted as cheaper.
Exporters paid to $390 for export weight young lambs, while supermarkets paid to $354/head.
New season lambs weighing above 26kg cwt generally sold from $300 to $350/head.
Good trade young lambs sold from $240 to $290/head, and there were only limited sales of fresh crossbred lambs below $220/head.
There were some lines of lightweight Merino young lambs which received restocking interest at $126 to $149/head.
Heavy old season lambs sold to $373/head.

Old lambs - Spring Plains, $373.
Sheep - John Lamb Pastoral, $360; HS Grazebrook and DW Green, $334.
