Sports physiotherapist Johanna Murphy is the new owner of Deniliquin Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Centre.
She has taken over the practice from Lynda Barclay.
Johanna, who originally hails from Kilmore, has relocated to Deniliquin from Melbourne.
She obtained her Masters in Sports Physiotherapy at La Trobe University and most recently has been working closely with AFL players at the Melbourne Football Club.
She has also worked with the Australian cricket team and was head physio on the pool deck at the 2018 Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast.
Johanna will now take over the practice that Lynda started in 1992.
For the last five years Lynda has operated from a purpose-built premises within Deniliquin Allied Health in George St.
‘‘It was a great move to relocate these premises,’’ Lynda said.
‘‘The increased space allowed me to employ both physiotherapy and reception staff, have an onsite exercise space, sell stock, and also co-locate with other health practitioners.
‘‘I have loved working within the Deniliquin community for so many years and helping many people achieve the best health outcomes they can — whether this has been related to their work, sport, disability or their own personal goals.
‘‘However I am very confident I am leaving them in good hands. We are so lucky to have someone of Johanna’s knowledge and experience to be joining our community, and I know she will be well supported by our medical fraternity.’’
Johanna said she is looking forward to returning to rural life and is excited to work alongside Deniliquin Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Centre’s existing staff, physiotherapist Caleb Pannell and receptionist Kylie Scott.
Appointments can be made by telephoning the practice on 0417204668.
