That dedicated service will be celebrated in a combined celebration next month.
It will be held at the Deniliquin Golf Club on Saturday, May 14.
Past, present and future members of both clubs are invited to attend the event, which is also open to club beneficiaries and the general public.
Deniliquin Lions president Carole Stevenson first took the idea of a joint celebration to her club, where she said it was “enthusiastically” received.
And Deniliquin Rotary Club president Angela Frino said her group was just as excited at the prospect of coming together to celebrate the common aim of both groups - serving the community.
“We’re often doing the same work in the community, and this is a great way to bring the two clubs together,” Ms Frino said.
The event will mark 60 years of Deniliquin Lions, and will serve as a belated 70th anniversary for the Deniliquin Rotary Club.
Rotary’s milestone year was in 2020, when both clubs were involuntarily put into recess because of COVID-19.
Mrs Stevenson said as well as celebrating the good both clubs have done in the community over those combined years, it;s a way to thank the many volunteers who have completed that work.
“Volunteers are the backbone of any community, particularly in the country.
“We do more than just provide financial support.
“We’re out there helping the community however we can.
“And 130 years of service to our community is a good milestone to celebrate.”
The price to attend the two course dinner event is $40 per person.
Anyone wishing to attend is asked to register their interest by contacting Mrs Stevenson on 0418 201 268 or Ms Frino on 0414 894 756.
