Leanne Mulham says it is great to have so many new faces join this year, along with regular members.
Starting at 4.30pm each Friday at the Hardinge St Oval, each group begins with a coaching session on a particular event before completing that event and then participating in three other field or track events.
Times and distances are recorded weekly and entered online for families to view their athlete’s progress over the season.
One point is awarded for attempting the event and a further point is awarded if the athlete improves on the previous result – their personal best.
For the first two to three weeks, athletes are attempting events for the first time this season and setting the benchmarks for future PBs.
“Our Tiny Tots is extremely popular once again, as these up and coming athletes are led through 40 to 45 minute activities,” Mulham said.
“Tiny Tots is an introductory program designed to develop three to five year-olds’ fundamental movement skills of running, walking, jumping and throwing through fun and enjoyable activities.
“And there is still time to join our Little Athletics family.”
You can call Tiff on 0433 346 167 for further assistance, and plenty of information is available on the Deniliquin Little Athletics Facebook page.
Also coming up is an introduction to teaching little athletics course on Saturday, September 16, from 9am to 3pm.
And the Deniliquin Carnival will be held on Saturday, November 11.
The zone carnival will be on Saturday, December 2 at Leeton and the regional carnival will be in Wollongong in February.
“This will be an excellent opportunity for our Deniliquin athletes to progress to the State Championships in Sydney in March 2024, with many local carnivals on offer along the way, including Finley carnival on October 28,” Mulham said.
Athletes from Tiny Tots upwards are welcome at Deniliquin Little Athletics.
