Little Wings is a non-profit organisation that provides free, professional, and safe flights and ground transport services to children in rural areas who need medical services.
They provide transport services to children and their families to help them access medical treatment, regardless of distance, and without having to worry about the cost of travel.
Recently, the organisation has assisted in making the lives of a local Deniliquin family far easier.
Eleven year-old Logan Marshall needed to see a specialist for his learning disabilities before starting high school next year.
The only issue was the specialist is based in Sydney.
It would take his mother Margaret Woods more than eight hours to travel to the Sydney suburb of Manly for the appointment with Logan and his sister Jasmine.
And that’s one way.
“Little Wings was suggested to us by a staff member at the hospital when we had to go to Sydney for an appointment for Jasmine previously,” Margaret said.
The family boarded the Little Wings plane for a two-hour flight to Bankstown followed by a one-hour drive to Manley, and the family couldn’t have been more grateful.
The entire journey took only three hours one way.
“I don’t know if we could have done it without Little Wings,” Margaret said.
“Considering how long it would have taken us to travel, I’m not sure that it would have gone very well with the kids.
“The cost was also a big issue too, especially this close to Christmas. But now I don’t have to worry about that.”
Little Wings is making a difference in the lives of countless families like the Marshalls, by providing free transport services.
Margaret thanks the team from Little Wings for “all they do for the rural communities”.
“The organisation is doing a great job and I am so grateful to have had their help.”
