DJ Stak (Sunny Chohan) originates from New Delhi, India, where his musical journey began.
Introduced to various genres by his UK-based cousins in 2002, including UK Garage, Drum and Bass, UK Garage Bollywood/Punjabi, and mainstream tunes from the 1990s and 2000s, Stak’s musical palette rapidly expanded.
Raised in a household with a singing mother, Stak’s early exposure to music laid the foundation for his passion.
As a talented drummer, he seamlessly adapted to the diverse sounds of his environment.
Upon moving to Canada, Stak transitioned to DJing, leveraging his eclectic musical influences to craft captivating sets.
Director of the Benalla Art Gallery, Eric Nash, welcomed DJ Stak.
“Music and visual art are richly connected, both as forms of self-expression and creativity and as means for us to come together as a community,” Mr Nash said.
“We welcome DJ Stak and his Sunset Sounds set and look forward to him bringing the gallery alive with his music.”
DJ Stak seamlessly blends genres like UK Garage, House Music, Indo-House Music, Drum and Bass, and mainstream Top 40 hits, captivating audiences with his energy and fluidity.
Sunny Chohan has called Benalla home for the past six months, becoming heavily involved in the community as a playing coach for the Benalla Bushrangers cricket team.
