Multiple club champion Matt Thomas added another trophy to his cabinet when named Champion of Champions at the Western Riverina District Golf Association championships, played at Finley at the weekend.

Thomas was also runner-up in the 2024 championship event on Sunday with 78, five behind winner Ian Armer from Finley on 73.
There was also success at Finley for father and daughter combination, Ross and Rivah Taylor.
Ross was the Division One handicap winner with net 75, while Rivah claimed the Junior Lady Championship trophy.
On the local scene, Saturday was stroke and the men’s monthly medal, taken out by Jarryd Pearce with net 66, which was also the A-grade winning score.
A-grade runner-up was Graeme Rothwell 71, while B-grade winner was Sarah Aitken on 71 from runner-up Ian Campbell 75.
The ladies played their monthly medal last Thursday, with both the medal and the day’s event won by Linda Brant with net 71 from runner-up Felicity McCalman 73.
Wednesday’s stableford event A-grade winner was Ross Pogonoski, who scored 37 points, on count back to George Maddison.
B-grade winner was Brian Dixon with an excellent score of 40 points, from runner-up Lee Pattinson 38.
Coming up tomorrow is a stableford event, Tuesday is 12 holes 2-person ambrose, Wednesday is stableford and Thursday is versus par.
Next weekend we have a 2-person ambrose and the men’s Keno qualifier on Saturday, and the Mixed Foursomes on Sunday.
The 2024 Spring Classic is on September 14 and 15 in the usual four ball best ball stableford format, with 18 hole events each day plus a 36 hole event.
On the social scene there is live music on Saturday, August 17 provided by Lachlan Downes and Andy Pearn, who are promising a night of great tunes, good company and a fantastic atmosphere.
