But a popular local musician has broken the drought, and will share the famed stage with some of the best artists from across Australia this September.
Zara Lindeman - a hard working singer, songwriter and music teacher - has performed for many years at the Ute Muster, but to date only on its smaller stages.
It started when she was part of the Deniliquin ukulele group and a high school band.
Last year she amazed Muster crowds as a solo artist, accompanied by two bands which included local band The Smoking Gun.
The last local act to grace the main stage for the Muster was The Lincolns - then a band made up of Deniliquin High School students, and incorporating Michael Cavanagh who is a member of the internationally renowned band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
At this year’s Muster, Zara will share the stage with legends like Lee Kernaghan, Jessica Mauboy, Missy Higgins and Travis Collins, among others.
And given the opportunities such exposure might have on her career, her excitement is understandable.
"I remember a few years ago being interviewed by ABC Riverina at the Muster and I said it would be a dream to play the main stage. And now here I am. Wow. “ she said.
Zara said she has had a lot of help to get to this point in her career.
A combination of growing up in a supportive musical home and music cohort has allowed her career to blossom.
“I feel so honoured to be on a line-up among some of Australia’s best,” she said.
“I’m extremely thankful to Deni Ute Muster for the opportunity, and to those that have supported me and contributed to my musical journey which has enabled me to give it a crack.
“I’m very grateful for the support I’ve received from the Deniliquin community.”
Zara is scheduled to kick off Saturday’s main stage concert, at 5pm on Saturday, September 30.
She intends to perform original music and covers, and encourages Muster fans to head to her ‘Zara Lindeman Music’ social media and music platforms to familiarise themselves with her work so they can sing along.
The Deni Ute Muster will be held Friday, September 29 and Saturday 30.
