Four crew members spent three hours at McLean Beach as part of Clean Up Australia Day, collecting rubbish along the walking track from McLean Beach to the Deniliquin Hospital.
The Deni Maccas crew have been actively participating in the annual clean up for more than eight years.
McDonald’s Australia has been a major sponsor of Clean Up Australia Day since its inception in 1989 and encourages all restaurants to join their local communities to help clean up rubbish.
Shift manager James Barling said that days like Clean Up Australia Day are important for both the environment and the community.
‘‘We went from the beach right up to behind the hospital and back down to the river, so we covered a wide area,’’ Mr Barling said.
‘‘There was significantly less rubbish than previous years which was great to see, but there was still a lot.
‘‘McDonald’s has been involved with Clean Up Australia Day for many years and it’s important to us that the community and environment is looked after.
‘‘I love to sign up to do Clean Up Australia Day every year and I’m proud to play an active role in our neighbourhood.’’
Businesses officially had their Clean Up Day on Tuesday, February 25, with youth and schools participating Friday, February 28.
It officially finished on Sunday, March 1 with the national Clean Up Australia Day event, however there will be some students participating in a clean-up at McFaull Park today.
