The building that houses the Murchison Bakery business was offered at auction last Friday, but failed to sell after a vendor’s bid of $300,000.
It is now on the market with Peter Cardamone Real Estate.
The building was reconstructed after a fire ripped through the former building at 39 to 41 Stevenson St, due to an electrical fault, 21 years ago.
The current business has a 10-year lease.
The building owner, Robert Burt, said he was putting the freehold up for sale because of his age.
The bakery business is run by Mr Burt’s baker son, Trevor, and his wife Janene, who said the business, which is almost 30 years old, will continue to operate.
Although much of the original historic building was destroyed by the fire, the redevelopment has maintained an original 1856 brick wall, which can be seen by bakery patrons.
The property sale includes the neighbouring site occupied by a laundromat.
