The transport company recently took delivery of five new Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks.
Freighters’ managing director Russell Tait said it coincided with the company renewing its rice cartage contracts with SunRice.
The order was the largest to come out of the new Shepparton base of Daimler Trucks - a company under the Tristar Group banner which Freighters have had a long association with through their Wagga and Albury dealerships.
The new 2663 Actros models - which replace five older model Mercedes-Benz trucks - operate an efficient 630hp 16-litre engine teamed with a 12-speed fully-automated manual transmission (AMT).
“Our goal is to always provide a good service, and we employ local people to provide that service,” Mr Tait said.
“These new trucks provide better safety for those members of our team.
“They are fitted with the very latest in technology advancements and safety features, including active radars.
“They’re also fitted with the latest comforts for our drivers, and of course there are improved efficiencies too.”
Deniliquin Freighters switched to Mercedes-Benz Actros models in 2017 and added Freightliner Cascadia models in 2021. Both are supplied through Daimler.
“We’ve been really happy with them. The fuel economy has been good, the safety is always welcome and the drivers appreciate the comfort,” he said.
“The trucks are one thing, but the team behind them, the support you get once the trucks have been delivered that is just so important.”
Mr Tait describes the service he receives through Daimler Trucks Albury and Daimler Trucks Shepparton as “exceptional”.
To celebrate the new fleet and the renewed SunRice contracts, Freighters turned the truck delivery day into a whole staff celebration.
Team members from Freighters and Daimler shared a barbecue at the company’s depot.
David Warren from Tristar Group and Daimler Truck Australia Pacific sales and marketing vice president Andrew Assimo said it was great to see more Actros trucks in the distinctive Deniliquin Freighters colours.
“We are building something really special at Daimler Trucks Shepparton and the team there has done an incredible job preparing new trucks and delivering the kind of support that our customers deserve,” Mr Warren said.
“Deni Freighters is the kind of operation that you just love to have as an ambassador of your brand,” Mr Assimo added.
“It’s a truly professional operation that looks after its workers and customers like they are family, and the trucks always look fantastic,” Mr Assimo concluded.
