The appointments complete council’s new executive leadership structure, bringing a wealth of experience, fresh ideas and community focus to guide council’s work across the region.
Ms Williams said the new executive team brings a strong mix of leadership experience and local understanding.
“Each of them brings exceptional capability and passion for delivering outcomes that can help strengthen our region,” she said.
“Together, this team will help guide our organisation as we continue to deliver essential services, invest in local infrastructure and plan for sustainable growth right across the area.”
The executive team is primarily based at council’s Moama office, and will regularly visit other office locations to meet with staff and community members.
The new directors are:
Director assets and infrastructure - Sarah Stephen: Sarah joins council with more than 20 years’ experience leading infrastructure and asset management projects across Australia, New Zealand and Kenya. She has worked with several regional councils, including Mackay, Cairns, and the Sunshine Coast, as well as Transport for NSW, where she helped deliver major infrastructure programs and improve asset management practices. Sarah is passionate about creating safe, sustainable, and well-planned communities and looks forward to working closely with staff, councillors and local residents.
Director corporate and community - Louise Mitchell: A familiar face in the region, Moama local Louise Mitchell brings extensive experience in both local and state government. Louise has led work in community development, public health and wellbeing, early years, arts and culture and emergency management. She also has a strong background in strategic communications, engagement and government services. Most recently, Louise was director community at Greater Shepparton City Council. She is excited to return home and continue supporting strong and connected communities across the Murray River Council area.
Director sustainability and growth - Bryce Kilian: Bryce Kilian is a qualified town planner with broad experience in regional development, planning and project delivery. He has led teams across both local and state government in areas such as economic development, transport and infrastructure. Bryce is passionate about supporting regional communities to grow in a sustainable and well-planned way, working with local businesses, residents and stakeholders.
