As part of the school’s new art works, a mural featuring the totem of the local Yorta Yorta Aboriginal people - a Badja Bayaderra, or long neck turtle has been painted on the library.
A mural of an Azure Kingfisher has also been added to the school grounds as part of the project.
The murals have not only brightened up the school, but have given students a greater insight into the local Aboriginal community.

Congratulations are extended to local young woman, Dottie Wilson.
Dottie has been named dual winner of TAFE NSW Student of the Year, CPALES Faculty Award, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award.
Dottie was presented with her awards during the recent TAFENSW Excellence Award Night.
She graduated from Deniliquin TAFE’s Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation Class in 2021 having achieved excellent results - including 100 per cent in English, maths and biology - after completing both her Year 11 and 12 equivalents in one year.
Dottie has been accepted into La Trobe University in 2023 to study a double degree in law and criminology.
She will also be remembered locally as the recipient of the Murray River Council Young Australia Day Citizen Award recipient earlier this year.
Congratulations again Dottie.

How would you like a cool $3000?
That is the first prize in Mathoura Football Netball Club’s major fundraiser for the year.
A total of $5,500 will be up for grabs in the fundraiser with second prize $1,250, third $750. There will also be five prizes valued at $100 each.
And the way to get in the money, just purchase a ticket for $100.
If you feel $100 is a bit out of range for your budget then why not share a ticket with a family member or a friend.
The draw will take place on Saturday, August 6.
Tickets can be purchased at the clubhouse after training on Thursday nights or at home games.
Alternatively you can send a message to one of the club’s committee members and they will arrange it for you.

‘You’re playing like a girl’
That’s a comment of scorn sometimes heard at football games.
However, when it comes to our area, playing like a girl is something special.
Savannah Emery is one such girl currently serving as captain of the Mathoura fourths side and performing well.
She has a long history with the club with her grandfather, Les Bates, being a former Mathoura Football Netball Club President.
Other local girls to also excel in the football world include Jemika and Shaleah Cooper who are currently playing with the Moama Mowers and also in the Bendigo competition.
So in my view the ‘shout out’ should be ‘Go girls, go!’.

I don’t know who is in charge of determining the wordage on signs used to alert oncoming motorist that they will soon come across a large vehicle carrying an oversize load.
The sign on the lead vehicle says ‘Wide Load Ahead’ when in fact it is the opposite.
The wide load is actually following the lead vehicle.
Always seems a bit dumb to me!

Mathoura Bowling Club will host its annual Gulpa Creek Fours tournament next weekend, June 18 and 19.
Entries in the popular event have already closed so there should be some great bowls to be seen.
