The school’s debating team was successful in its first contest the other week.
Competing against Deniliquin South Public School, the youngsters took the affirmative on the topic ‘Students should be given a second chance on tests and assessments’.
The team of Braxton Lilford, Jobe Unwin, Macie Celli, Khoa Unwin and Katelyn Eddy brought home the bacon.
Well done team.

Locals were pretty excited on Tuesday by the arrival of vehicles competing in the Variety Club Bash.
The vehicles and their crews were ‘dressed’ to the nines and entertained the crowd.
It was a shame that Mathoura’s most prolific Basher, Alan ‘Tiny’ Watson was not here to enjoy the occasion, but undertaking a bash of his own.
Other locals who have enjoyed the experience in years past have been Pam and Margaret Fitzpatrick (Gilbert) and Candice Bates (Emery).

It is great to see that former local Scott Vesty is continuing to help people ‘weather the storm’ when it comes to struggling with their mental health, or just new to town and wanting to meet new friends.
He is inviting interested people to come along and have a barbecue, a few soft drinks and a chat about anything, everything or nothing.
His message is to just get out there and be ‘AROUND MATES’.
To learn more, interested people can check out his Facebook group, AROUND MATES.
You can also call him on 0409 329 996 or email aroundmates@gmail.com.

Parents and children learned more about the before and after school care available at Mathoura Public School last week.
And as well as being shown the ropes by the TheirCare representative, they were treated to a great healthy breakfast to start off the day of learning.
More information about the program can be obtained by phoning the school on 5884 3314.
