Two years ago, now 10 year-old Hunter landed himself a kayak after participating in the Mathoura Fishing Classic.
This year it was older brother Noah’s turn.
The 14 year-old’s name was drawn in the Edward Kolety Fishing Challenge junior entrant random draw.
He won himself an Adventure Kings 3.6m double fishing kayak package, valued at $1200 and donated by Dahlsens Deniliquin Mitre 10.
Within moments of winning the prize on Sunday, Noah was making plans to launch the kayak the same afternoon.
For Noah, who almost feels like he manifested the prize, the kayak is an upgrade.
“I already have a kayak, but it’s only a little one,” he said.
“This one is a big upgrade.
“I was sitting back there (in the crowd) saying I was going to win it, and then my name was called.”
Noah and Hunter entered the Edward Kolety Fishing Challenge with parents Troy and Liz Dunn.
The youngsters landed 11 fish between them over Saturday and Sunday.
“I caught five carp and a brim,” Noah said.
“I caught five carp,” Hunter chimed in.
A family of keen anglers, the Dunns try to get out fishing as often as they can.
They even have an annual trip to Karumba in Queensland when they spend a month deep sea fishing for tuna - and whatever else they can get on the rod.
