Having competed at Western Riverina zone and Region 4 Little Athletics NSW competitions already, Oliver qualified at Wollongong’s February 10 and 11 regional carnival for the under-9s 400m and 800m events.
Oliver’s parents Hayley and Sam Hall said Oliver’s two events are some of the most athletically challenging of the carnival.
But Hayley said he has the required attitude for success.
“He’s very determined,” she said.
“He won the 400m and 800m in Wollongong, which qualified him with times for the final in Sydney.
“He has the 400m on Saturday, and then the 800m on Sunday.”
Oliver is a member of the Deniliquin Little Athletics Club.
This weekend’s event will be hosted at the Sydney Olympic Athletic Centre.
