Deniliquin Local Health Advisory Committee reports that the oncologist team who will be delivering the service visited Deniliquin last week.
Local staff who will be involved in delivery of this service received more training, and there was also a meeting with local GPs.
Deni LHAC acting chair Louise Mace said full details are not yet available, but LHAC would keep the community updated on the progress of this service.
Mrs Mace led her first Deni LHAC meeting as chair last week, and provided feedback about her attendance at the LHAC forum in Wagga.
The focus of the forum was on community centred care.
“Several presentations on collaborative care programs by Murrumbidgee Local Health District and Murrumbidgee Prime Health Network were delivered, where participants were able to gain more insight into how these programs are making care more equitable across a large geographical area for all communities,” Mrs Mace said.
A comprehensive report was also tabled at the LHAC meeting by Deniliquin Hospital facility manager Virginia Lange, providing data about attendances and benchmarks at various departments.
“It is fantastic that the emergency department continues to perform above triage benchmarks for all categories, meaning patients presenting in different triage categories being seen within a required timeframe as set by NSW Health,” Mrs Mace said.
In August, 119 surveys were completed by patients, family members and visitors to Deniliquin Health Service (either responding to an SMS text or using the QR codes in the facility).
Mrs Lange’s report outlined that feedback remains “overwhelmingly positive“ with 92 per cent of respondents rating their experience as very good or good.
“This is a testament to the dedication of staff and the quality of service provided at our health facility,’ Mrs Mace said.
“The community is reminded that anyone wanting to provide feedback, or who might have a complaint, is encouraged, as a first point of call, to raise this with the nurse unit manager of the department, or to bring this to the attention of the facility manager.”
Mrs Mace said planning of LHAC projects and campaigns for the next financial year would now begin, with some funding already secured.
“With a number of projects completed over the past nine months by LHAC for the 2025 year, we have been successful in obtaining our annual MLHD funding for the 2025/26 year,” she said.
“We will start planning some priorities for next year, as we move toward the end of 2025.
“Our focus for October is to support Deni MHAG in all of their mental health initiatives, with mental health being one of our top three priorities for 2025.”
