A car mounted the kerb near the Edwardes St corner, directly in front of the South West Music Regional Conservatorium.
Seating provided in front of the building was damaged as a result of the collision.
No official details of the incident have been recorded with police, as there were no significant injuries or charges laid.
There was, however, an officially recorded incident involving a police vehicle and the Australia Post motorbike.
Murray River Police District Chief Inspector Jy Brown said it occurred while police were responding to the crash, about 12.30pm.
“The police car stopped, with lights activated, for one of the officers to get out and assist the driver of the car,” Chief Insp Brown said.
“The driver remained in the car to move it to a more suitable location.
“It was put in reverse, but the motorbike was stopped directly behind and as such there was a minor collision.
“The postie moved the bike and allowed police to relocate their car, after which they spoke and the postal worker indicated he had not been injured.
“There was a small scratch on the bike, and police are working with Australia Post in regards to the next steps.”
