Kate Small established Small Trading Co in early December 2021.
It is a homewares store that operates in conjunction with Kate’s bespoke furniture making business, Kate Small Design.
Kate’s vision for Small Trading Co was a celebration of high quality Australian pieces that will last a lifetime.
It offers a space for local pieces to be displayed and sold to a target audience that designers and makers could otherwise not reach.
Opening with an ambitious 12-month financial target, Kate was able to achieve this within four months.
It confirmed that she had indeed fulfilled a niche in the market.
Small Trading Co has since expanded its product offerings and established an online shop to bring bush made goods closer to mainstream audiences.
The collaborative foundations and success of Small Trading Co confirms the ethos that ‘together we are stronger, and by supporting each other we can all thrive’.
