A contingent of district high school students were among those who went along to learn more about what it takes to be a police officer last week.

Murray River Police District hosted a police recruitment day at the Deniliquin Police Station on Thursday, with more than 25 people attending.
The recruitment officers in charge of the session were extremely pleased with the turn out, and the enthusiasm from young people still looking at thier career optiosn after school.
Those that attended the session gained a greater understanding of the application process required to join the NSW Police Force, and the steps needed to complete each part of the process.
Deniliquin’s Caitlyn Sims is put through her paces in a practice run of the physical session new recruits must complete.
Community members who had previously expressed an interest in joinging the police were also put through thier paces on the day.
Among those completing a practice physical session under the guidance of the recruitment officer was Caitlyn Sims.
Currently in the process of applying to the police, Mis Sims said it was good preparation for her actual testing to be conducted later this year.
Deniliquin police officer Senior Constable Robyn Brown helped run the day in her role as education and development officer.
She thanked the recruitment officers - Leading Senior Constables Paul Waite and Mandy Weiling - for the informative session they presented.
Leading Senior Constables Waite and Weiling said they thoroughly enjoyed their trip from Sydney to Deniliquin, and were extremely grateful for the support of the Deniliquin police and the efforts of those who came to the session.
