About 150 biking enthusiasts from all over Victoria and NSW attended the annual Deni Shovel Muster & Bike Swap Meet at Pretty Pine on the weekend.

“We had around 50 bikes enter the judging, coming from as far away as Geelong and Newcastle,” Deni Shovel Muster committee member Nathan Jefferies said.

The Shovelhead engine was produced by Harley-Davidson from 1966 to 1984, built as a successor to the previous Panhead engine.

A 1980 FLH model Harley-Davidson was won by the Maude Hotel publican in the raffle.

The crowd was entertained by live bands and all contributed to a $5000 donation to Deniliquin Can Assist - a charity which provides financial support to locals undergoing cancer treatment.

Mr Jefferies said the amount was pooled from previous years, and from a raffle drawn at this year’s event.

“It’s taken us a bit of time to raise the money after a smaller than normal event last year, and two years of no events before that,” Mr Jefferies said.

“And we could not have done it without the help of all our sponsors from Deniliquin, and even Rutherglen.”
