At the Deniliquin Show on Saturday, his 2016 record of 105kg was smashed by a trio from Coleambally.
The main producer, known only to stewards as Wombat, arrived with a monster of a pumpkin.
Confident it would be the winner, stewards left it until last in the weigh-in.
No-one was surprised when the beast was, in fact, the heaviest in the pumpkin patch, but it almost doubled the weight of the next best entries.
Coming in at a whopping 131.2kg, it may be some time before this new record is broken at the Deni Show.
Running for more than 10 years, the Charlie Carp sponsored Giant Atlantic Pumpkin Competition attracted a record number of entries this year.
And that’s even with a number of possible entries not making it to the pumpkin patch on the day.
While each grower has their own methods for producing a show-winning pumpkin, it can sometimes come down to luck.
Some growers had trouble with rot, while others reported dog and other animal interference.
It’s not exactly clear how the Coleambally trio managed to produce such a large pumpkin, although there is a train of thought that the sandy soils at Coly may have provided an advantage over the clay soils in the Deni area.
Before show day, competition stewards John Russell and Ken Allitt were out and about with their Guess the Weight pumpkin.
This competition was also finalised on Saturday.
The pumpkin weighed 62.3kg, and Gilbert Bain won the prize with a guess of just .1kg off the mark.
Other results are as follows:
Open pumpkin - Wombat from Coleambally, 131.2kg, 1; Brett Allitt, 75.4kg, 2; Lawry Smits, 65.6kg, 3.
Junior pumpkin - Max and Jorla Woolston, 70.8kg, 1; Miles Allitt, 62.3kg, 2; Maddie and Jake Woolston, 57.4kg, 3.
