With his grandmother, Rebecca Simmons, the curious toddler ventured down to the Deni Golf Resort on Saturday to see the cars that would be taking part in the 2024 Kidney Kar Rally.
Little Raymond’s face lit up when a familiar looking, bright red race car was among the cars lined up for scrutineering.
And he could barely contain his excitement when the drivers allowed him to sit behind the wheel of Lightning McQueen himself.
More than 40 teams registered to take part in this year’s rally, which began from Deniliquin on Sunday morning.
Entrants started arriving in town on Friday morning for the pre-rally activities.
Between now and Saturday, the rally will make its way to Leeton via a secret route, which will first take them to South Australia.
The rally is a fundraiser for Kidney Health Australia.
Archy entries on show
Entrants in the critically acclaimed Bald Archy art prize are now on show at the Deniliquin Peppin Heritage Centre.
The Bald Archy is the perfect example of the Aussie larrikin spirit on display, using subjects from the year that was in the news for their art works.
Some of the pieces were pertaining to the political world, others the sporting fields, and others using stars of the big screen.
A crowd of more than 30 attended Edward River Council’s launch party on Saturday, which featured Museum of the Riverina manager Luke Grealy as guest speaker.
The 40 artworks are now open to the public until September 1. Entry to the Peppin’s art space is by gold coin donation.
