Residents gathered to hear a familiar chime

A beautiful sunny day with a gentle breeze was the perfect backdrop for those who gathered to view the Deniliquin Town Hall clock tower in all it’s glory on Tuesday.

Residents eagerly awaited the clock to strike noon to hear the long awaited familiar sound of the clock towers chime.

Basked in sunshine the best vantage point for viewing was across the road on the lawn in front of the Island Sanctuary.

From there you not only heard the chime, but had a clear view of the clock and Mayor Cr Peta Betts and Anne Calnon as they switched the chime back on.

Mrs Calnon and her late husband Barry Calnon - a well respected jeweller - were responsible for maintaining the clock for many years.
