When Rob Greaves received an email recently saying he had won $5000, he initially discounted it as a scam.

That was until he was also contacted by the team at Ritchies Liquor Deniliquin to confirm he had in fact won a recent promotion they ran in conjunction with Carlton United.
All Rob had to do to win the cash - delivered in the form of Visa gift cards - was to keep buying slabs of his favourite tipple.
“I bought a slab and Ash (Ritchies Liquor Deniliquin liquor manager Ash Reece) said did I want to fill out the entry form.
“Initially I said I wouldn’t bother, but she encouraged me.
“I then filled in a few others (during the promotion) thinking nothing would ever come of it.
“So I want to thank Ritchies and Carlton United.”
Anzac Day spruce up
There’s a lot of work that goes into the planning of an Anzac Day ceremony in Deniliquin.
It starts months ahead when quest speakers are organised, and continues in the days leading up to the event.
Some of the last items to be ticked off are to ensure the cenotaph and surrounding gardens are presentable for locals and guests.
And no stone is left unturned.
A painter was seen in the CBD on Sunday giving the flag poles are once over to make sure they are spick and span for Sunday.

Another week, another ‘rally’
It seems last week’s surprise visit from the Beyond Bitmen rally team was not our last surprise.
A Talkback correspondent noted a number of interesting cars in the Deniliquin CBD on Sunday morning.
They were all lined up on the shop side of Cressy St quite early.
Each was emblazoned with the logo of car manufacturer Sunbeam.
This time, we’re not too sure what the cars were doing in Deni.

Crash details not released
Official police details relating to a car rollover in Deniliquin on Friday afternoon are not yet able to be released by police.
Originally reported as a possible multi-vehicle crash, it was in fact a single car rollover.
Fire authorities say there were three people inside the car at the time, with paramedics taking them to Deniliquin Hospital for observation.
The crash occurred on the Cobb Hwy south of Deniliquin, near the Greaves Rd intersection, about 2.45pm.
