Rocking out at Navorina

Getupndans performed for residents and staff at Navorina on Saturday, while in Deniliquin for a Deni RSL gig.

It was rock and roll central at Navorina Aged Care on Saturday, when visiting band Gedupndans performed for residents and staff.

In Deniliquin to perform at the Deniliquin RSL Club on Friday evening, the musical duo were asked to fit in another concert while in town.

And band member Peter said it may now become a regular gig.

“A big thank you to the staff at Navorina, Bernadette (Werner), for inviting us to play the following day, while we were in Deniiliquin,” Peter said on Facebook.

“The smiles and excited applause from the residents was delightful to see, and even the staff got into the swing of things.

“To add to our show, good friends Lorraine and Miro Peterman and Bob and Alda Crampton (from the Rock n Roll Club) came along to show a few dance moves, which absolutely delighted the residents too. Thank you, my friends.

“Thanks again to the Navorina Auxiliary ladies who funded us being there.

“We will be at the RSL again on August 1, then again to the lovely residents at Navorina Nursing Home in Deniliquin on August 2.

Bigger market crowd

It was lovely to see a few people brave the cooler conditions and head down to support the Deniliquin Lions Community market on Saturday.

By mid-morning, the sun was starting to intensify, taking the edge off a chilly morning.

While it was a smaller, winter market, locals and visitors alike enjoyed perusing the produce and wares on offer.

There was a good mix of local stallholders, and those from other district communities.

Stalls were centralised along the main sandy path to avoid the damp grass.

As always, the Lions' catering van and the Deniliquin Girl Guides donut stand were kept busy.

The market is held the fourth Saturday of each month, in the Deniliquin Warning Gardens.
