President George Maddison made the $3000 donation to new CEO Paul Turner.
Mr Turner joined Navorina in April.
“We were fortunate to have Paul as a guest speaker to one of our recent meetings, during which he shared his philosophies on aged care and gave us a bit of insight on his plans at Navorina,” Mr Maddison said.
“While he was there, we took the opportunity to make a donation.
“Rotary has supported the facility since its very beginnings, and some of our own (Rotarians) have called and still call the facility home.
“The funding allocation has come out of our general fundraising, and we expect to make some more donations soon as the current terms comes to a close.
“But we’re always pleased to be able to make donation to Navorina.”
Navorina Aged Care has indicated the funding allocation would be spent on “new furniture to make Navorina a bit more comfortable for the residents”.
New furniture and support items have been a focus of Navorina in recent years, after with the aim of completing a multi-stage upgrade of the facility.
The upgrades provide modern facilities for residents and their guests, specialist space for visiting allied health professionals and increases the number of beds to 60.
Construction and upgrades to residential wings have also been ongoing for a number of years, using government grants and Navorina cash reserves.
Community fundraising received since then has been used to furnish the new rooms and communal spaces.
